FAQ

Strength and Conditioning are the backbones of what keeps an athlete or any individual healthy, strong, and injury-free. Goodman Elite Training sessions include all aspects of fitness and athletic performance; Attributes such as strength, speed, and endurance are implemented into each of our programs. We encompass a holistic approach, creating the most optimal athlete at any age, who participates in any sport or activity.

As strength and conditioning professionals, it is our job to perform a Sport Needs Analysis that addresses all the biological demands of an individual’s sport (or activity) that they participate in. In conjunction with an individual’s needs assessment, where strengths and weaknesses are evaluated, we construct training programs that will best suit that athlete. Strength and Conditioning is a developmental process for everyone, you do not need to participate regularly in sports to be a candidate for training. It is an annual process of learning through off-seasons and vacations that will be challenging but keep you eager to come in and train.

  • Yes, though strength and conditioning is a staple for athletes, it is crucial for any individual due to the benefits that come from training. One of the best ways to optimize health and longevity is to strength train. Proper training programs can reduce muscle loss from aging (sarcopenia), improve balance, and enhance mental clarity.

  • Yes, our coaches are highly qualified to provide programs for return-to-sport or post-rehabilitative programs to help you reach your goals without having to put a pause on your training. Please click our “Return-to-Sport” section for more information.

  • Absolutely, we encourage those who have never trained before to begin their journey here at Goodman Elite Training. It is never too late to start! As stated earlier, this is a life-long process that only has positive outcomes. As strength and conditioning coaches, we enjoy newcomers as it is easier to teach proper movement and mechanics without any previous bad training habits.

  • Finding the time to train can be the hardest part for most people. Here at Goodman Elite we can work with whatever availability you have and will provide you with programs that will best fit your availability. Even if you can only train once a week you will reap massive benefits compared to not training at all!

  • Typically, we will start training youth at the age of 6. At this age, we can teach appropriate foundational movement skills while at the same time incorporating fun activities to keep the young athlete fully engaged. There is a large misconception that strength training for youth can stunt their growth and simply put this is false. We will not put your youth athlete through any exercise that will injure or put them at any risk. This is an optimal time to begin the training process due to the high amount of neural development they are experiencing at a young age. Some of the greatest athletes in the world began training at a very young age, giving them a head start to succeed. Furthermore, there is vast research showing that early sport specialization in youth can lead to injuries later on down the road. One of the benefits provided through proper training is that it will fill the gaps for kids who do only play one sport, exposing them to various positions and challenges and keeping them healthy and safe.
